This week’s newsletter is a quick one. Kevin remains hard at work with many (MANY) skull sketches, and we are going to be sending out Kickstarter campaign surveys sometime this week.
As we progress, I’m also trying to come up with new tactics to keep up productivity and maintain momentum. My wife recommended James Clear’s Atomic Habits, and I have to say I feel it could be a little life-changing (see what I did there? Atomic? Small changes? A little life-changing?). The idea of building/developing small habits is something I can get my head around.
“Every action you take is a vote for the type of person you wish to become. No single instance will transform your beliefs, but as the votes build up, so does the evidence of your new identity.” - James Clear, Atomic Habits
“Habits are the compound interest of self-improvement” - James Clear, Atomic Habits
So, out of the gate, I’m targeting little goals. First: Clean my office. It’s a bit of a disaster, to be honest. I’ll go through periods of “organizing,” but that often means piles of paper, books (graphic novels, regular novels, comic books, etc.), delivery packaging, and more that eventually build up until I “organize” or “clean” again.
While I’ve asserted over time that the general disarray of my space doesn’t/couldn’t/won’t affect my productivity, it’s clear that having a better sense of calm, organized productivity can’t be anything but better for the process.
“You do not rise to the level of your goals. You fall to the level of your systems.” - James Clear, Atomic Habits
I’d do a whole before-and-after picture thing, but we all have different ideas of what clean and organized mean, and I’d like to keep mine a mystery for now ;)
Anyway, back to it. Thanks for reading and being a part of this increasingly productive process and journey towards a better system.
Mike
