Newsletter 24. Twenty-four hours to go. Clearly, my planning skills are on point.
Today’s update is a quick one. As my kids gorge themselves on chocolate (and Adrienne and I partake of the “secret stash” – one for them, three for us? – we compiled while putting all of their Easter goodies together) I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who supported my first Kickstarter campaign. As of this writing, we are over 300% funded from 232 backers, with 24 hours left to go. That means $17K+ CAD, which is considerably more than the $5,500 we were striving for.
This means more books! This graphic novel/field guide is getting printed, and we need to print more than we thought. It also means a lot more content as backers flocked to the Pet Tier (get your pet in The Bestiary!), and a few jumped on board the Lost Tales (new short story add-on) Tier. It means MANY custom skull sketches for all physical tier backers. But most importantly, it means this is just the beginning.
The Bestiary is the jumping-off point for the larger Feral storyline. The Beast Within comes next, followed by Feral: The Colour of Blood. And then… who knows?
Kevin Manklow’s amazing artwork and my semi-tolerable scribbling will be back to bring more Feral graphic novels to life. Thanks for helping us get this journey kickstarted. We hope you enjoy what you and many others like you (who haven’t signed up for the email list yet. The nerve, right?) are responsible for unleashing into the comics world.
For those who are just hearing about this now, where have you been? There are only 24 hours left to back The Bestiary - Feral: A field guide to the new world, a 100+ page graphic novel exploration of werewolves and other mystical beasts and what their impact was on the early fur trade. It’s truly amazing.
But don’t take our word for it. Here are some other people talking about us:
Earlier this month, Mike Connell was featured in Soda and Telepaths, a pop-culture publication with an emphasis on comic books, graphic novels, TV shows, film, and music.
We were also lucky enough to chat with sequential art critic Konrad, host of Wednesday Night Reviews, a video podcast focusing on, but not limited to, Canadian Indie comics.
If you’re on your way over to support the project, you should also check out these other ones…
