So, only 16 days left to go on our Kickstarter campaign, and we’re 230% funded with 165 backers, which translates into $12,696 (CAD). Wow. I can’t thank everyone who has supported us so far enough.
That said, it’s not over yet! We still have our noses to the grindstone…
Editorial aside: Such a weird analogy. Were there so many people sharpening things (or, perhaps, NOT sharpening things?) that bending over the grindstone became a byword for hard work?
And our hard work has not only translated into success but it’s also garnered recognition from the community at large.
Mike and Kevin, on WNR
Kevin Manklow and I were lucky enough to chat with sequential art critic Konrad, host of Wednesday Night Reviews, a video podcast focusing on, but not limited to, Canadian Indie comics.
Check it out!
Over the week, we smashed through our fourth and thought-to-be-final (for now) stretch goal – at $12K, we added more exclusive content, which means that Sir Clancy's account of certain side trips (pages thought lost!) will be added to the already hefty 100+ pages of Bestiary... bookness?
Going forward, we are exploring some stretch goals to try and get us up to the 200 backer count, and/or $14K and $15K levels. Stay tuned for more on that. Just what you wanted, more updates, right?
With that in mind, we also announced a shift in our printing strategy…
All the news that’s fit to print
Previously, we were printing out of the US through a provider that would likely have to source the job overseas. Now, we have decided to source domestically and are working with Canadian-based StudioComix Press (“the home of independent comics,” more specifically based in Kitchener, Ontario).
All printing will be done here, in Canada and, once complete, we'll ship all US orders to a fulfilment team there, and keep all Canadian orders here. This allows us to see the physical copy before it goes out, and supports a local business that is well-known and respected in the comics industry up here. If you have any questions, let us know, but suffice to say this doesn't change much from a backer's POV. It gives us more control and may improve the timelines.
Enough?
OK. We’ll leave it at that for now. Check out the video interview and let us know what you think (and share it with the world!).
Otherwise, here are some other projects you can take a look at while you’re obsessing over ours:
DODGE! #1-3 A comic mini-series starring a surly werebear
This one sounds pretty cool: A 4-issue comic book mini-series featuring paranormal US Super Soldiers hunting Soviet Werewolves!
Night Wolf #1-6: Urban Fantasy Werewolf Coming-of-Age Drama
Rob is already a “project we love” on Kickstarter and has smashed through his $10K USD goal. All werewolves. All the time, right?
MANDRILL P.I. #1-2 – A noir tale for cartoon lovers
This may not be about werewolves, but a primate private detective is pretty close, right?
